In this article we will talk about a new (relatively) communication platform from the company Aastra - Aastra 400. In particular, we consider what modules (boards) expansion has this solution for the older model in the line - A470.
Aastra 400 consists of three communication servers for servicing companies of different sizes.
A415 / 430
Aastra 415 and Aastra 430 systems can be used in smaller companies and can handle up to 12 and / or 50 employees.
')
The standard Aastra 430 provides more connections and a total of four instead of two expansion slots.
Both systems have a modular and basically the same design:
- 1.5U server contains Call Manager, IP gateway and 2/4 expansion slots;
- built-in: e-Voice Mail, IVR;
- UCC and vertical market applications are installed on an external server;
- installation options: 19 ″ rack, on the wall, on the table;
- All 400 Series Communication Server Platforms ship with the same software.
A470
The standard version of Aastra 470 is designed for 36 users. The capacity of the communication server can be expanded to service up to 256 subscribers.
In addition, the Aastra 470 platform can be equipped with an embedded application server (CPU2). This server provides the ability to effectively integrate innovative communication services into the A400 system.
A470 is:
- complete communication solution: Call Manager, IP gateway, DHCP server and application server
- color display, 3 x Gigabit Ethernet, 1 x 100MB, FXS interfaces;
- built-in Voice Mail, e-Voice Mail, IVR;
- UCC applications are installed on the embedded server or can be installed on an external server;
- when configuring more than 36 subscribers, an Expansion Aastra 470 license is required.

Layout of the main hardware components inside the A470 server

This slide shows the possible options for expansion cards for the A470 communication platform.

PRI
PRI - ISDN Primary Rate Interface (30B + D digital trunks).
PRI cards are designed to connect Aastra 470 with public or departmental ISDN networks. Two types of boards: 1PRI, 2PRI

For configurations> 10 B-channels, licensing is required. PRI cards can contain 1 or 2 IP media modules (EIP1).
Protocols:
Compatibility Standards:
- ETSI ETS 300 011 / A2 ed.1;
- ETSI TBR 004 / A1 ed.1.
FXO
FXO - Foreign Exchange Office (analog trunks)

There are three options for implementing the FXO card:
- 16 ports;
- 8 ports;
- 4 ports.
Bri
BRI - ISDN Basic Rate Interface (2B + D digital trunks).
BRI cards are designed to connect Aastra 470 with ISDN networks or with ISDN devices. Two types of boards: 4BRI, 8BRI.

8BRI board with 4 configurable ports (from ISDN-T to S); 4 ports are fixed to T-Protocols ISDN S-bus:
- ETSI;
- EXTERN S;
- S-bus short or long (max. 500 m);
- S-bus point-to-point (max. 1000 m).
DSI
DSI - Digital Station Interface (digital subscriber lines)
DSI boards are used to connect to the Aastra 470 digital subscribers: Aastra 5300, Dialog 4200.

Three types of boards: 8DSI, 16DSI, 32DSI:
- Line length - up to 1200m;
- Power 48V;
- Automatic adjustment of power, depending on the length of the line.
Fxs
