Useful and useless startups

Now the rate of appearance of startups is greater than ever - more or less serious projects appear once a week. Almost all of them are trying to bring something new to our life and, it is worth noting, they will succeed. But not always, not always, this is the most "new" we need. For me, most of the current startups are uninteresting and faceless - they cannot adequately answer the question “Why do I need this?”.
Of all the more or less popular projects that have appeared in the last couple of years, very few are useful to me:
Vkontakte . What is this beast to say is meaningless, I can only say that for me it is primarily an interactive notebook. A list of all your friends (so as not to forget to congratulate), their birthdays (do not miss!) And current contacts (do not lose!). Why not classmates? Because there are no my friends there, everyone is on Vkontakte. There is no other reason.

mmm ... Tasty . I have been learning LJ for a long time and got used to unsubscribe only my thoughts there, and not everything, as many do. But very often the temptation to post a funny video from youtube or a cool quote from Bash is great, but I don’t feel like mixing up the findings and thoughts, so at the same time I have a mini-blog on mmm ... Tasty, where everything is done for quick and convenient placement of multimedia materials.
Vladelia . This project is very, very new (just the day before yesterday I read about it in ISH ), but it hooked me. In essence, Vladelia is such a high-tech community of owners and a convenient tool for their communication. And despite his youth, the potential of the project is great. You have broken something - you find the owner of the same thing on the Owner and ask for advice, and for choosing new purchases in general an irreplaceable thing is to read the reviews of real owners a hundred times more useful than official announcements.
There are much more useless startups than useful ones, but here I will write only about popular projects:
Last.FM. Yes, it is the largest social music network in the world, but I can only highlight the search for similar artists from really useful functions. The rest is pure water indulgence. Firstly, what my friends are listening to, I already know, and, secondly, even if I didn’t know, I wouldn’t be interested. And even more so I know that I am listening myself. Living statistics is not serious.
The world is small . Social card. The idea is beautiful, I will not argue, but there is not much benefit from it either. I live in one place, I don’t experience any problems with this place, I know where my friends live and I know that they, too, have no problems. And why do we need a map?
del.icio.us. Though kill, I do not understand the meaning of social bookmarks. I bookmark links that are unlikely to be interesting to anyone except me. And the fact of storing bookmarks on the Internet for the purpose of “accessibility from anywhere” is irrelevant for me.
Twitter Reading the exhausts of someone else’s life and writing about your own is not at all interesting for me. And when there is not even interest, what kind of benefits can we talk about.
You can develop this topic endlessly, but perhaps I’ll stop here. I would like to hear what popular startups consider useful and useless other habravchane.
