Recently, Architelos has published a new report on the security of domain zones. The studies were conducted using the NameSentry technology developed by her. The main source of information was various blocklists, which included domains containing phishing, viruses, spam and other malicious information.
According to the results of the study, it turned out that, compared with January of this year, the number of potentially dangerous domains increased by 67%. This means that at least 5.5% of the new domains in this period were registered with unfair intentions.
Architelos CEO John Matson explains this by increasing fraud activity. They register new domains soon after their old domains fall into block lists.
As a result of the activation of the fraudsters, the safety indicators of individual domain zones also decreased. An excellent level of security (less than 100 violations per million domains) was noted only in four zones out of 72 considered: .tel, .nz, .pt and .fi.
')
In most domain zones (42 of 72) a good level of security was noted (100-1000 violations). Among them are .xxx, .eu, .ws, .tk domains. We also note that the Russian Cyrillic domain, ., was included in this group.
In 16 domains, the security level is considered satisfactory (1000-10000 violations). This group includes the largest domain zones - .com, .net, .org., .De, .cn and a number of others.
As
in the previous report , seven domain zones are marked as potentially dangerous (more than 10,000 violations per million domains). Unfortunately, the .ru domain turned out to be one of the most dangerous (over 21,000 violations). Also in this group are the zones .mobi, .biz, .info and .us
