Google will update the installation rules for third-party extensions for the Chrome browser on the Windows operating system.
Users will only be allowed to download extensions from the official Google online store, the Web Store. It will not be possible to install extensions from third-party sources into the browser.
New rules will come into force in January 2014. They will affect both the beta versions and the stable version of the browser. Other platforms will have the same rules. ')
According to Google, this restriction is imposed for security reasons. Recently, the number of complaints from users affected by malicious extensions has increased.
I especially want to note that developers must pay a registration fee of $ 5 for placing the extension.
