According to the newspaper "Novye Izvestiya" , the other day the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General’s Office suggested making the information published on the Internet the subject of the responsibility of the site owners. Such measures are considered as an option to combat extremism.

In parallel, the State Duma is preparing a bill that equates the placement of material on the Internet to publication in the media. If it is adopted, the Criminal and Administrative Codes will be extended to the Network, and “any critical criticism of the authorities can turn into insult and slander” with all the ensuing consequences, the source reports.
