Smartphone from Railways

The day before yesterday, the railway terminal on Android was presented at the InfoTrans 2013 exhibition in St. Petersburg. And here he is in my hand.

This ultra-secure smartphone with integrated barcode scanner and smartcard reader is fully developed in Russia. In April, Habré had a small note about this device that caused a heated discussion: habrahabr.ru/post/175683 .
')

The device, code-named FRMD101A, is built on a dual-core processor with a clock frequency of 1.2 GHz, has 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory.

The terminal withstands twenty-degree frosts, 55-degree heat and falls from a height of 1.8 meters. It has an IP54 protection class, allowing it to be used even in rain and snow. The smartphone can be used without removing gloves - especially for this, it is equipped with a resistive screen.

The device has a built-in barcode scanner.

For authorization and implementation of a legally significant electronic digital signature, the personal railway card is inserted into the smartphone (for clarity, I took a staged photo - the card was inserted into the smartphone on its back).

The battery has an impressive capacity of 5000 mAh.

The terminal is able to work even without a battery - inside there is a second built-in 800 mAh battery.

Of course, the terminal has all the necessary equipment of the smartphone - voice calls, SMS, 5-megapixel camera with flash, GPS / GLONASS, dual-core processor.

Special software with a simple interface does not allow the user to go to the Android interface. Even the shutter is disabled.

This non-destructible device will be used by railroad walkers, station workers and other railway workers.

Already, the device operates on several sections of the railway. With the help of it, Russian Railways will be able to translate in electronic form the last operations performed “on paper”.

Technical characteristics of the device:

Processor: ARM, 1.2GHz, dual-core;
Memory: 512/768 MB of RAM, 4096 MB of ROM, support for SD / mini-SD / micro-SD memory cards (SDHC up to 32 GB);
Operating system: Android v.4.X;
Screen: 4.5 ", 960x540, touch, resistive;
Connectivity: GSM, GPRS (11 classes), EDGE, UMTS / HSDPA, SMS (Short Message Service), Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b / g / n;

Power: main battery 5000 mAh, backup battery 800 mAh. The battery life is not less than 8 hours, the time of full charge is not more than 5 hours.
Dimensions and weight: 177x79x35 mm, 365 g.
Protection against external influences: operating temperature range from -20 ° C to + 55 ° C, operation at a relative humidity of 95%, IP54 sealing class, multiple drops from a height of 1.8 m, resistance to electrostatic discharge: ± 15kV air discharge; ± 8KV direct discharge

Now made the first batch - 600 devices. According to the developers, even with such a small batch, the device’s price was quite low. Unfortunately, I was asked not to give an exact price, I can only say that the iPhone is much more expensive. I hope the device will take root and in the near future it will begin to be used on all sections of the Russian railways.

In addition to railways, such a device can be used in many other industries - in other modes of transport, warehouses, mail, customs, and even in the army. It is possible that the first Russian industrial smartphone will become popular in these areas.
