Ended up for about half a year it's time for rumors and fierce discussions. Now we know for sure that in the Sony Ericsson portfolio there is a place not only for the legendary P-series on the UIQ, but also for communicators on Windows Mobile.
At the Mobile World Congress, Sony Ericsson and Microsoft announced cooperation in the field of creating devices on Windows Mobile, the first representative will be the XPERIA X1 - a communicator equipped with a full-featured sliding QWERTY-keyboard. Among other interesting technical characteristics - a display with a resolution of 800x480, a full set of wireless interfaces (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS), a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash.
It is not yet known what processor is used in the device.

The design of the device can be called really fresh jet in the world of Windows Mobile, the front panel with metal elements looks at least unusual against the background of bored devices from Asus and HTC.
I think many will appreciate the curved keyboard with tilted buttons.

Also, Sony Ericsson announced a new add-on to the standard Windows Mobile interface - XPERIA panels, in action which can be viewed in video on Engadget:

All this magnificence, apart from the mass of positive emotions, constantly brings me to the question of cost, which, judging by the characteristics, is unlikely to be below 600 Euros.
Power consumption and performance, I think, can really be assessed only after testing has begun in the press.
I think if Sony Ericsson is really set up seriously (that is, not to release one model for two years), the emergence of such a major player on the market can significantly strengthen the army of WM devices that have recently begun to ferment.
PS I apologize if someone has already posted, but the news seemed to me extremely interesting. I took photos from Engadget in order not to waste time on compressing official images from the SE press room.
