Service beautiful animated cards LikeShareIt.com

Hello! My name is Sergey and I wanted to introduce my small startup Cetrine.net. For several years, I enthusiastically studied the possibilities of JavaScript frameworks and collected a small collection of various animation effects. Without thinking about what you can do interesting with all this good, the idea was born to create a service of animated cards - LikeShareIt.com . After examining the market, I discovered that other sites mostly offer simple pictures or Flash videos in the form of postcards. I'm not special in Flash, so it was decided to try to do no worse, but using JavaScript.

Work on the project began in August 2011. We had quite a bit of time, it was necessary to have time for Christmas and New Year 2012. I worked in the evenings and on weekends and my partner tortured jQuery all the other days. In parallel, the wife created the graphics and elements of postcards.

Because of technical problems, we had to skip Christmas, but by the New Year we started all the same. Our first postcard was the “Snow Feeder” with the effect of vertical scrolling of falling snow.

Then he lit the lighting of the floors in the photograph of the skyscraper.

In the last days before the New Year, they managed to finish the girl in the dress of Santa Claus that disappears when you hover over the card.

Postcards can be sent both immediately and on schedule. After the new year, the possibility of registering via Facebook and sending a postcard in the form of a personal message was added.

Of the difficulties in the process of creating the site, the first thing that surfaced was the huge amount of JavaScript code that was generated for each postcard. As a result, I had to rewrite the whole mechanism of creating a postcard and render to the page only what is needed for each particular postcard.

The second and most important of course is the execution of javascript in different browsers. If everything worked as it should in Chrome, then the scroll effect was terribly slow in IE. I had to rewrite the scroll effect and make it myself. It seems to work as it should.

Now on the site more than forty postcards and effects. Of the plans for the future, we are thinking of adding the possibility of sending by SMS and printing out a paper postcard and then sending it by regular mail. As it turned out over the past couple of years, quite a few people still prefer to send paper postcards.

This is how our project turned out, I hope you will like it. If you have questions, ask. I will be happy to answer them.
