In Belarus, the police arrested a carder

The Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus announced a high-profile case involving computer crime. Sergey Novik, deputy head of the department for combating crimes in the field of high technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus (known as the “K” Directorate ), came under investigation. Rumors about the arrest of a high-ranking policeman appeared in December, and yesterday they received official confirmation.



The Prosecutor General’s Office was told that a criminal case had been opened against the officer and he was in custody. Sergei Novik is accused of embezzling funds through the use of computer equipment (article 212 of the Criminal Code). Most likely, the crime is connected with carding, that is, theft and the use of other people's credit cards. It is for this article that several carders were convicted in Belarus, who were caught by this very Directorate “K”.



The article, which accuses the former policeman, punishes up to 15 years in prison.
