Outlook goes to a single swim

Until now, the Microsoft Outlook email client (not a truncated version of Express) could only be purchased as part of the Office suite. But in many organizations, Outlook with the contact management application Business Contact Manager has become almost the main working tool for office workers. It has everything you need: mail, organizer, contact database, calendar planner, CRM module, a system for joint project management, etc. Therefore, Microsoft made the logical decision to start selling this package in a separate form.

Such a move will allow new clients from a number of small and home businesses to be promoted to Outlook. They will already be buying Outlook specifically as a business application for current business activities.

In addition, this is a preparatory stage before the release of the accounting package Microsoft Office Accounting 2008, which should appear in November. Together with Outlook, they will work in a tight bundle: they will have a common database and, for example, it will be possible to send bills to the accounting program directly from Outlook.

A standalone version of Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager sells for $ 150. Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 is $ 450. At the same time, a truncated version of Outlook Express for Office Accounting 2007 is free, and Office Accounting Professional 2007 costs $ 200.
