Wireless technologies have long been persevered in our lives, and this is good. Bluetooth, WiFi, Wireless USB - wires are pursued and mercilessly expelled in all areas. And here is the news from the front line of video transmission. The Wireless HD group of companies (it includes Intel, LG Electronics, Matsushita Electric Industrial, NEC Corporation, Samsung Electronics, SiBEAM, Sony Corporation and Toshiba) issued the first WiHD specification to the mountain earlier this year. This standard was developed for high-resolution wireless video transmission. Its capacity will be 4 gigabits per second, and it is planned to protect the transmitted data using the HDCP protocol. The number of companies that have joined the standard support since 2006 is about forty. WiHD will operate at 60 GHz, which does not require licensing and is not used anywhere else. After the approval of the standard, developers can begin production of equipment for it, which means that soon we will have another breakthrough in getting rid of the wires. I hope ... =)
When I found out about this news, in my imagination a blue dream awakened many years ago. Here I am lying on the couch. In front of me is a light flat terminal, like a laptop, only a few times lighter, consisting of a screen, a keyboard and a battery. Due to the lack of voracious filling the battery lasts for a long time. In the corner of the room, if you look closely, there is a healthy water-cooled tower stuffed with powerful iron - even if you play Crysis, even watch HDTV. It stands, no one interferes, silent and inconspicuous. Down with the bulky bundle of "system block - monitor", give mobility! Oh, dreams, dreams ... =)
However, the use of this technology will, of course, be much more - it is terrible to even imagine what kind of revolution in data transfer formats it can make if it proves successful, and not half deadly freak. Let's hope so.
