Opening of the registration of domain names in Russian is planned in early 2007, the regional network information center (Ru-Center), the largest registrar of Russian domains, told Interfax .
“According to preliminary plans, the first stage of the priority registration period should begin in January - the collection of applications from trademark owners and other groups of applicants equated to them (in particular, the media),” the head of public relations department Ru-Center told Interfax Andrey Vorobyov. According to him, the registration of domain names in national languages ​​takes place in many countries of the world. These are mainly countries of the Asia-Pacific region, as well as Germany and Denmark and a number of other countries.
