Adobe Flash Player Sandbox Mode is available for Safari Mac OS X
Adobe reports that Flashbox's special protected sandboxing mode for Flash Player is now available for Safari on Mac OS X. Such a protection or mitigation technique against exploits / malware for the player has already been implemented for the three most popular MS Internet Explorer browsers .Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox . The sandbox mode allows you to limit the set of functions performed by the process (browser plug-in), in the context of which Adobe Flash Player is running to play the desired content.
The special file com.macromedia.Flash Player.plugin.sb defines the list of allowed actions for the sandboxed process. Obviously, it only allows the most necessary for the plug-in actions and functions: writing / reading files only from a fixed location, interprocess communication restriction (IPC), restriction on the use of sockets. This mode of operation of the application is designed in accordance with the concept of OS X on applications with support for sandbox mode . ')
We’ve given you a chance to find out how to do this. Thus far, we have worked with Google, Microsoft and Mozilla on deploying sandboxes for their respective browsers. Most of the time, the Flash Player will be protected by the OS X App Sandbox.
