Our readers will remember that we announced a conference on software localization. Finally, we can take stock.
The Loc Kit conference was held on September 27 in Moscow at the Japan House KC. We were visited by 70 people, which is slightly less than we expected, but we got a chamber event for professionals in the field of localization from 26 companies.
The speakers talked about the strategy of internationalization (Tex-Texin), choosing the strategy of internationalization (Ekaterina Lazhintsev), preparing materials (Vladimir Gusarov) and choosing contractors (Kirill Soloviev and Sergey Storozhenko), building the testing process and quality control of localization (Natalia Volkova and Andrei Tselybeev ). At the conference, somewhat unexpectedly, even for ourselves, something like a machine translation section was formed with three reports: about the inevitability of machine translation, about its place in the software localization and about post-editing. In addition, we had a game report by the head of the All Correct editorial team, Nadezhda Lynova, on examples of computer games in the genres of "farm", "subject search" and word puzzles. Nadezhda spoke about the technology of preparing the game for localization. ')
