iConText has been researching the contextual advertising market. Now they were able to publish some final figures.
According to analysts, the volume of the contextual advertising market in Russia more than doubled and reached $ 225 million. Yandex’s share could be 64% of the total and equal to $ 145 million (two and a half times more than in 2006). The revenue of its main competitor in the field of contextual advertising, the Runner company, may amount to no more than $ 70 million.
The highest growth rates are shown by Google LLC. According to estimates, the company's revenue increased at least threefold and amounted to $ 10 million.
It is interesting to note that in 2007 the market developed not only due to the emergence of new users or the use of paid services by them, but also due to the emergence of large social networks and a significant increase in companies' investments in online advertising.

Contextual advertising has secured the position of the leader of online advertising. Lev Glazer, General Director of MediaSelling, an Internet advertising agency, suggested that in 2007 the volume of the contextual advertising market exceeded the volume of the media market by 15-20%.
IConText specialists believe that in 2008 the growth rate of the contextual advertising market will show some tendency to slow down. Accordingly, it can be assumed that growth will remain at least at the same level (100-150%), and the market may reach the level of half a billion dollars.
