A total replacement of IP addresses has begun on the Internet.

Tonight, the ICANN organization overseeing the use of Internet protocols began to add records to the DNS server that contain addresses in IPv6 format, which means that each new domain name is assigned an address in a new and improved format.



The records added so far only in six of the thirteen root DNS servers will mark the beginning of the transition from the current IPv4 protocol to the more modern IPv6 that has been prepared for several years. This will fundamentally change the entire addressing of Internet space.
