The Lifehacker website
has test results that tarnish the reputation of the new Firefox 2.0 browser. A small test of "gluttony" showed that in relation to the RAM, Internet Explorer 7 appetites are much more modest than the competitor's requests.
After working during the day, IE7 “bit off” 60.816 Kbytes of RAM, while the Mozilla brainchild with the same number of tabs requested 191.832 Kbytes for work. After both applications were left running overnight, Internet Explorer’s eaten memory figure rose to 168.280 Kb, and Firefox 2.0 increased to 204.356 Kb.
However, not so simple. Almost 250 thousand Kb of RAM for Firefox 2.0 against 296 thousand for IE7 - these are the
results of a similar test published on the Scobleizer.
