The history of "Silk Road" gets on the big screen

Hollywood studio 20th Century Fox reported that writer Dennis Lehane (Dennis Lehane), based on an article by journalist Joshua Davis (Joshua Davis) , which will soon be published on the site of Epic Magazine , will write a script for a feature film. The picture tells the viewer the story of the recently closed FBI site Silk Road , located in the anonymous network of Tor , and its owner Ross William Ulbricht.

Dennis Lihane is considered one of those American writers who have a close and productive relationship with Hollywood - the films on his books “Goodbye, Baby, Goodbye”, “Mysterious River” and “Isle of the Damned” have earned high marks from film critics. Also, Lihane worked for television on the scenarios of the episodes of the series "Underground Empire".

There are few details about the project, but according to preliminary data, the film will primarily focus not so much on the history of Silk Road itself , but on how its owner tried to hire hired killers for clients of the site who threatened to expose him. The speed with which the filmmakers announced a project based on real events is amazing: the detention of Ulbricht and the closure of Silk Road took place only a couple of weeks ago.

Epic Magazine was founded by journalists Joshua Davis and Joshua Berman ( Joshuah Bearman ) to publish articles based on real stories, which, according to the site’s administration, have every chance of getting decent screen versions. It was Berman’s article that became the primary source for the script for Operation Argo, which won the Oscar for Best Film in 2013.

It is quite likely that if the film is still released in wide distribution and will sufficiently adhere to real facts, then it can cause a wide public interest in the topic of anonymous networks like Tor .

At the time of writing this post, Davis’s article on Epic Magazine has not yet been posted.
