Solar panels with an efficiency of 80%?

Idaho National Laboratory scientists are currently working on a technology that researchers think will make it possible to produce solar cells with efficiency up to 80%. And we are talking about two-way batteries, in which one of their parties will be able to work even at night.

To solve the problem of increasing the efficiency of batteries, a group of scientists decided to use a special material consisting of miniature nanoantennas (!) To create them. Moreover, success has already been achieved in this direction. Those. the “nanotkan” itself, exciting infrared radiation, has already been developed. The case for "small" - to convert light energy into electricity. According to team leader Steven Nowak, they plan to achieve results by placing a miniature capacitor in each nano-antenna.

It is clear that it is too early to talk about the commercial implementation of technology. But, if the research of American scientists will be successful, then such effective solar batteries (and the efficiency of existing today is only 20%) may well be widespread.
