Officials rejected the petition to repeal the "anti-piracy" law
An expert working group of the Russian government recommended rejecting a public petition demanding the repeal of the “anti-piracy law”. This decision was made on October 14 in the course of the meeting of the group headed by the Minister for "Open Government" Mikhail Abyzov.
According to the participants of the meeting, the “anti-piracy” law in its current edition during the first months of work proved its effectiveness, having received positive feedback from many rightholders. In this regard, the experts felt that discussing its abolition is inappropriate. In addition, the working group separately recommended increasing funding and resource capabilities of Roskomnadzor, noting that the burden on the agency responsible for blocking Internet sites has increased almost 3 times since the adoption of the law.
