Ambiguity of "rating" comments

I caught myself thinking that when there are a lot of comments, I read only those that are marked by a large number of pluses (or a very large number of minuses :) On the one hand, it’s convenient - you read only really interesting statements. On the other hand, those who “arrived late” have no chance of being read, even if their comment is more interesting than all the written ones combined.
