I see…

I often travel to various events, conferences, sometimes I visit a start-up party, organize my own seminars and IT events. And what do I see?

I see a couple dozen of IT people come to the average community event in the cities with a population of over 1 million, and it’s possible to gather more than 500 people in one place.

I see how in small towns IT specialists complain that nothing happens to them, but when I gather to hold an event in such a city, it may turn out that there is nobody to get acquainted with.

I see how community leaders “burn down” in a year or two.

I see how one after another local communities cease to exist.

I see how one conference after another is canceled due to low activity.

I see that out of 150 participants from the city where the event is held, 5 people come.

I see how people with five years of experience stop learning and developing, as the salary cap is passed, so why bother?

I see big companies helping other big companies.

I see how difficult it is to reach out to representatives of corporations, let alone bring them into a constructive dialogue.

I see the same people speaking at all conferences, the rotation of speakers is very small.

I see that a clown's speech (edited) is considered a class report.

I see that students who have not yet graduated from college want a distant job, a free schedule and a couple of thousand dollars a month.

I see how the "Signor Developer" on Toyota complains at the forum that $ 10 for the Friday meeting is a waste for him.

I see how the developers at 18:00 hurriedly leave office buildings, while at 9:00 in the office at least with the ball of the cat.

I can see how a brain startup is developing in some. After all, the startup does not want to decide anything, he wants to make pitches to investors.

I see IT people leaving companies and going abroad.

I see that I hardly see foreign speakers at our events.

I see how resources for developers are closing down or stagnating one by one.

But I also see people who, in spite of everything, organize events, write articles, share experiences and are always ready to come to this for another city or country. It is these people who make a rainy evening drive through the city in traffic jams to socialize in a cozy atmosphere and feel part of a small, but still community!

Thanks for attention!
