MacBook Air processor will go to normal laptops

Intel has developed a miniature version of the Core 2 Duo processor (Merom family, 965GMS chipset, 65 nm process technology) specially commissioned by Apple for the MacBook Air subnotebook. Steve Jobs admitted that they directly appealed to Intel with a request to make the processor 60% less than usual. The result was a small chip with a consumption of 20 watts instead of 35 watts. Thanks to this technology, Apple was able to order a batch of ultra-miniature laptops in Asia, which created a real sensation among Apple fans, and recently went on a massive sale.

But this was by no means an exclusive development, and now Intel is ready to start wholesale deliveries of the new version of Core 2 Duo to other PC vendors. It is assumed that on this platform you can build the same ultra-thin laptops, which in appearance and characteristics will be very similar to the MacBook Air, but they will only cost much cheaper and will work under a different OS.

Interestingly, this is the first time that Intel has developed a smaller version of the standard mobile processor.
