Four-legged robot WildCat on an autonomous engine runs at a gallop
Engineers from Boston Dynamics commissioned by the military agency DARPA improved the Cheetah robot, which with its four limbs resembled a cheetah and accelerated to a speed of 45.5 km / h.
The new model WildCat is equipped with an autonomous source of energy - an internal combustion engine, it can run at a trot, gallop and turn around. The maximum speed is 26 km / h, but the developers promise up to 80 km / h over rough terrain.

The WildCat robot (M3 according to the DARPA classification) is in many ways reminiscent of BigDog (LS3) - a large machine capable of carrying up to 180 kg of cargo. She started testing it last year in a standalone version on rough terrain. But LS3 should have maximum power and stability, and in the case of WildCat the main thing is to run fast.
