The company Bathys Hawaii presented the world's first atomic wristwatch

And this is not a joke - the clock actually uses the atomic source Cesium 133, which is in the form of gas in a special capsule. The main electronic component is the SA.45s chip from Symmetricom. It is inside this chip that the capsule with cesium-133 is located.

In addition, photocells and the low-power laser are used. The laser heats gaseous cesium, the atoms of which are transferred from one energy level to another. The electronic component just captures the periods of electromagnetic radiation in the implementation of such a transition.

Note that as the power source uses a conventional lithium-ion battery. Unfortunately, the developers did not report how long the battery charge lasts. But this clock, as it should be for an atomic clock, is very accurate. For a thousand years, they can admit an error of one second.

Previously, more or less portable “atomic” clocks were already produced, but they did not have an atomic source, another model simply synchronized with a real atomic clock by radio.

The model from Bathys Hawaii costs 12 thousand US dollars, so it is unlikely that they will become very popular. But the company is not going to release them en masse, the watches will enter the market in limited quantities.
