Week of Safe Runet

Did you know that from January 29 to February 5, 2008 ROCIT and Microsoft
spend "Week of the Safe Runet" ?

Maybe I'm a little late with my note, but I’ll still say a little about this action, which consists of 2 main parts.

So, opened the "Week of Safe Runet" press conference and round table
“Internet for children: prospects or threats? ..” , which took place in RIA-News. A round table was held by Ilmira MALIKOVA and Sergey PLUGOTARENKO. The following issues were discussed during the events:

• The role of society and the state in ensuring the safe use of the Internet for children
• Ensuring the safety of children on the Internet, software solutions, specialized Internet portals
• International experience in combating malicious content and its impact on children
• Health and safety of children on the Internet: awareness of the problem or its solution?
• International experience and approaches to restricting children's access to malicious Internet content, the experience of introducing specialized .kids.us and .xxx domains in the United States
• Fighting child pornography on the web
• Child and computer: “spectrum of interests on the Internet” or “what parents do not suspect? ..”
• The impact of malicious content on the psyche of the child

The final event will be held on February 5, 2008 in Moscow at the UNESCO IITE a Russian scientific-practical conference “Threats to man and society from the Internet: the situation in Russia” will be held .

During the event the following issues will be discussed:

• Software and technical Internet threats
• Fight against Internet threats vs. rights and freedoms (network regulation issues, censorship, legal issues)
• The international aspect of Internet threats (issues of international cooperation, the transboundary nature of the Internet as a factor influencing Internet threats)

• Copyright on the Web: a threat from the Internet or speculation?
• User Content and Internet Threats: Attack or Defense?
• Ethics and behavior on the Web: a cure or “liberty attacks”?
