Smart Home DIY Dimmer on Test Board

image

A portion of fresh photos and videos for those whom I was able to interest in his clever beginnings. The project is taking shape and is already implemented in a test gland, which soon (hopefully) will come to me from a distant country of Ukraine.

What is now?

Developed and embodied in the gland early developer kit. This is actually a dimmer, as in the photo above (by the way - clickable) and an additional shawl on the basis of the atmega with the implemented software dimming algorithm, which I myself have to transfer to the NRF24LE1.

The current dimensions of the dimmer board are 50x50 mm. The release board will not be different in size, unless it is possible to cut corners a little. The total height of all elements of the dimmer will consume about 2 cm, which is located on the border of the free space behind the switch.

The “mother” connector on the NRF24LE1 is not decoupled on the board in the photo, since in Ukraine it was not possible to find the necessary connectors (with a 2.0mm pitch). By the way, I also cannot find them in Yekaterinburg during the day with fire. Therefore, they were previously ordered from China and are already waiting on the shelf in the wings.

This scarf is relevant only now, it is needed a) to check the correct operation of the hardware and b) as a manual for me according to the dimmer algorithm.

Video of the test kit

When turned on at full brightness flicker is visible - these are the features of the camera used. Visually no flicker is noticeable.

What's next?

Next come extraordinary adventures with sending this farm across our wonderful border. This turned out to be a very nontrivial matter. Totally unexpected. The delivery office asks for permission from a customs broker. Customs broker asks to provide a bunch of data on both sides of the shipment. And to him (for some reason) it does not matter that it is just a private cargo between two individuals. Among the requested papers there is a document confirming the cost of sending ... In short, there is insanity. But somehow cope.

Meanwhile, on this side of the border, programming of the NRF24LE1 is slowly being mastered. The programmer arrived. With the Chinese software, which, thank God, was able to more or less translate into Russian English. But this will be in my other post in the near future. :)
