PayPal in Belarus

“Paypal opened the door for us,” Sergey Dubkov, deputy chairman of the National Bank of Belarus, told reporters today.

As it is known, PayPal has been refusing to open accounts for Belarusian citizens for several years and accept credit cards issued by Belarusian banks for payment.

Sergei Dubkov did not give unambiguous predictions about the results of this dialogue, but expressed the hope that by the 2014 World Hockey Championship "this system will be presented."

“We are entering the negotiation process. PayPal has contacted us and is currently preparing a list of questions to which we have to give answers, ”said the NBRB deputy chairman.

At the same time, he promised to make every effort to “make this service available to every citizen of Belarus.”

Dubkov also expressed the hope that soon American Express and Diners Club payment systems will begin their work.
