The creators of the printed gun "Liberator" created "The Pirate Bay" for 3D-models

Previously, the creators of the pistol "Liberator", the news about which was already published on Habré, promised to post modifications of the model on their website. In addition, they promised to create something like a file storage with various 3D models, not just weapons. No sooner said than done, the site defcad.com was launched the other day , on which more than seventy thousand different files of 3D models were laid out.

To be precise, 75 thousand files are uploaded. Developers describe their resource as “The Pirate Bay” for such files. It is worth noting that, as in the case of torrent servers, nothing is stored on the DEFCAD website, except for links to CAD files. Users store these files on their own servers. It should be noted that this year such a large resource of CAD files as Thingiverse decided to prohibit the deployment of weapon models. Thus, Thingiverse gave impetus to the development of third-party resources, including the native DEFCAD. Many of the files previously hosted on the Thingiverse, migrated to the new site.

Almost immediately after this, the US government demanded that the weapon model files be removed from the defcad.org site (this is the “native” developer site of the Liberator). Without thinking twice, the team decided to create a second resource, which would be much more difficult for the authorities to control. Actually, this was done, and defcad.com was born. Generally speaking, this site is positioned by developers as a “search service for 3D models”. But the essence of the resource does not change due to this - now a huge number of CAD files are collected here, including weapon model files.

In addition to searching, you can try to find the files through the directory, there is such a function for the resource.

In general, it is time for owners of 3D printers to test this “search engine”.
