I write small games under my iPhone. I spread the games to the Apple Appstore store and enjoy the process.
Sometimes it is possible to receive not only pleasure, but also small money. How?
I place advertisements for other games (forgive me, Lord) in my application and I get cents every day. Cents fall from two advertising sites - the Apple site, called iAd, and the Google site, called Admob. Remember easy.

Why two sites? Because iAd is spinning on iPhones only in civilized countries. Russia (Onishchenko, ay!) Is not on the list of civilized, clean countries according to Apple. I have to agree with Apple. But do not be discouraged - Google saves us in our territories.

How to combine two monsters in one small application? For this there are companies that have received the slang name mediators .
Earlier, I used a mediator named adwhirl.com, but in September 2013 this company would die. I moved to the new Admob Mediation mediator and want to share my experience with it.



Priorities


So, you have brought two admob and iAd advertising platforms on the mediator's website and reached the final page, which requires clarification.

The eCpm column means only one thing - which site is preferred in civilized areas of the Earth. Any numbers can be put in this column, the mediator will choose the platform with the highest coefficient for displaying advertising. Since the profit from iAd is three to four times higher than the income from Google, I recommend putting numbers, as in my example.

I am an obedient guy and put 12 seconds in the ad refresh rate window. And I got angry reviews from gamers that
advertising really got!
Money does not smell, I whispered and did not read reviews.

However, looking at the following table, I thought deeply.

In the requests column we see the number of ad impressions. In the column Clicks - we see the number of clicks on ads. And in the last column CTR - respectively, the effectiveness of advertising, that is, the number of clicks per thousand impressions. This number is very small in my games. Why? Yes, no one will click on the advertisement that flashes every 12 seconds, when the game time of one round in my application is 40-100 seconds. So, I decided, it is necessary to reduce the number of impressions by making the advertisement update rate equal to 1 game round, that is, approximately 60 seconds.

Experiment

I decided to conduct this bold experiment.
The number of hits has decreased dramatically. Users began to look at me more benevolently.
