We decided to switch from “Mini” to “Turbo” (currently in beta, but later in stable) because mobile Opera is more designed for smartphones capable of much more than Opera Mini, which often limited the use of JavaScript to pages due to strong compression and page delivery method. Users were waiting for more from the browser and we switched compression modes. The good news is that Opera Mini has not disappeared from Google Play, and if you need extreme compression and are ready to sacrifice JavaScript and rounded corners, you can install it with a second browser.
