Universal Music sues two media services

Universal Music is launching a series of lawsuits against websites that violate copyright laws, reports TechCrunch . The company is suing Grouper (a recent acquisition by Sony) and Bolt.com . Complaining that users are given the opportunity to post materials protected by law, Universal requires $ 150,000 for each copyright infringement case.

Bolt.com - video hosting, which provides access to video content only in flash format, does not allow visitors to download the file to their computer. At the same time, Grouper users can download files to a computer or iPod. Bolt.com's attendance in August 2006 was 8.1 million, Grouper — 1.8 million unique visitors (for comparison, YouTube — 72.1 million).
