Open Doors Day at CERN (CERN Opendays 2013)

It so happened that with the scientific news periodics, we have "not very." Those interested in certain news topics prefer (and sometimes are simply forced) to get acquainted with the operational news noise from the original sources. Seeing nothing negative in this, at the same time I would like to note the inaccessibility of the news for amateurish discussions "in the kitchen." It is possible that a number of news and reports from the world scientific community will be interesting for discussion to ordinary people who are not directly related to “big science”.

Once (maybe two) a week, I plan to translate the news of the largest scientific laboratories in the world that most interested me during the week. Alas, I cannot do without my daletan comments.

In view of some specifics of my specialty, the themes of the most interesting publications I consider modern fundamental physics. Accordingly, the main news sources I consider the sites of the world's largest physical laboratories.

Today, for the seed, I will tell you about such a significant event as the Open Doors Day at CERN (CERN Opendays 2013) .

')

So, CERN is the largest laboratory of particle physics on the planet. At the moment, more than 10,000 (!!!) physicists from all over the world are working at CERN on experiments, one way or another connected with the study of the basis of the basis of our Universe, the questions of its origin, existence and (who knows?) Death.

In order to carry out these experiments, a huge complex of particle accelerators was built at CERN, headed by the Large Hadron Collider, the largest physical instrument on the planet, created using the most modern technologies available to mankind (the construction of the LHC also gave rise to only when creating this accelerator).

On September 28 and 29 of this year, CERN opens its doors for everyone to visit this unique place. Here you can meet with people who are moving modern fundamental science, talking live with the discoverers of the Part-God Particle itself, have a picture taken with the world's largest accelerator facilities, visit the largest computing center that processes a record amount of information. Separately, I will note traveling to underground premises and tunnels with unique equipment and a visit to the Control Center of the Large Hadron Collider .

If you plan to be in the Geneva area at the end of September of this year, do not miss the opportunity to participate in this interesting event and find out where these scientists are worth billions of dollars !

This year CERN expects 50,000 visitors for each day!
