Hello! Not so long ago, the IFA exhibition started in Berlin, and all the global gadget building representatives are present there. We were no exception and brought back our new smartphone - LG G2, which today we want to tell you about.
G2 is the result of painstaking work of engineers who combined our latest developments in the field of display engineering, camera design and device autonomy in a thin and neat package. G2 - the result of the work of designers and specialists in ergonomics. In the end, G2 is the work on the bugs, done as a result of analysis of current trends, user comments about the models Optimus G and G PRO.

The Optimus G case was beautiful and interesting: the combination of glass, high-quality plastic and a thin chrome-plated frame made it “expensive” and pleasantly heavy in hand. Smartphone Optimus G Pro inherited a part of the features of its “unprofessional” parent, but it got more rounded shapes, plastic on the rear panel and because of this it practically did not put on weight, but it noticeably added to the diagonal of the screen.
LG G2 (yes, we abandoned the Optimus word in the model name) has a screen size of 5.2 inches, (Optimus G - 4.7, G pro - 5.5), while the body size and weight remained at the level of the usual Optimus G. Moreover, the smartphone kept Dimensions within comfortable 4.7-5 inch models with a 5.2-inch screen diagonal:
So to call G2 “fat” will not work. Rather, gain strength to fight for the minds of buyers and users. :)
High-strength plastic is selected as the back panel material. The case itself is monolithic, the back panel is not removed, the SIM card is inserted through the tray using a special “clip”.
Side faces are completely devoid of any controls. All buttons are transferred to the back panel, under the camera. In portrait orientation, 90% of users have an index finger there, so the lock or volume button will always be “at hand” (or rather, under the finger), the smartphone does not need to intercept or change the position of the hand on it.
The front surface, as you probably already noticed in the photo, also lost controls - now the “back”, “home” and “menu” buttons are part of the screen. When needed - is, when not needed (when watching a movie in full screen mode, for example) - no.
The new display module has allowed to reduce the side faces to a minimum - one and a half millimeters separate the edge of the image from the “air” to the left or right of the smartphone. Just a couple of years - frameless screens, which we regularly in Hollywood motion pictures, will become a reality. And there and to the “transparent” mobile phone close. :)
Inside the smartphone - the most modern and powerful hardware available. Quallcomm Snapdragon 800 processor - 4 2.3 GHz cores on the Krait-400 architecture, 2 GB of RAM, 3D accelerator Adreno 330, 16/32 GB of internal memory (a bit later, maybe, the 64 GB version will be released for the greedy). The word “slows down” or “lags” the smartphone does not know at all. Everything that should fly on a smartphone flies. Software for brute-force Wi-Fi networks is, nevertheless, not profile, so we will leave its work beyond the framework of commonly used testing.
All this holiday of life and productivity from our best battery on 3000 mAh works. It charges quickly, keeps up high loads (and such a filling and FullHD-screen can consume a lot, especially if you play some Asphalt 8 or GTA), it has a sufficiently large number of recharge cycles before any noticeable degradation begins. The smartphone works familiar to Android devices “1 day” under serious load, like all other modern flagship devices from other manufacturers. Unfortunately, no revolution is foreseen here, but we are working diligently in this direction.
We also improved the camera. New matrix, new lenses, improved algorithm for processing the signal from the matrix and the most delicious bonus - optical stabilization of the system.
Now, shots in motion or in low light conditions will be much better, and the quality of shots in normal conditions is exactly on the same level as all modern camera phones.
The quality of the camera has already been noted in foreign editions; we will prepare a comparative review of the G2 photo capabilities in the near future.
A new convenient book case will work with the phone. It “snaps” on the back panel and becomes the second skin for the smartphone, additionally protecting both the back panel and the screen. The smartphone has a closing sensor, so you can forget about the lock button with such a cover. In addition, the “window” in the case will allow you to display a clock, an alarm clock, weather information or information about an incoming call. :)
