Yes, Intel is also not standing still. The company management announced Quark processor, which, it seems, is one of the smallest processors. Its size is only 1/5 of the size of the Atom. Quark, other things being equal, consumes 10 times less energy than Atom. At the Intel Developer Forum CEO, Brian Krzhanich introduced the Quark X1000 chip. In the course of the presentation, Krzhanic explained that this processor will be used for the “Internet of things”, the company will supply such processors and motherboards to manufacturers of home appliances and electronics.

Thus, any iron can be equipped with a communication module, for which it is not a problem to find a bunch of different kinds of functions. At the same time, Intel, according to the same Krzhanich, will not make the device based on a new processor; instead, the company plans to encourage other business people to produce gadgets and home appliances based on the Quark platform.

In addition to the “Internet of Things,” new chips will be used in medical technology, in conventional gadgets, as well as in wearable technology, such as smart watches. Probably in the near future, such gadgets will become extremely common, and new types of processors will be in great demand among manufacturers of such equipment.

Other companies will be given the opportunity to create their own chips on the Quark architecture, including modified ones. You will only need to obtain the appropriate license.

Now Intel, according to company management, is trying to take a leadership position in many areas of computing technology. Servers, laptops, tablets, phones - all these are the relevant divisions of the company. Now another division has been created, which will work with the “Internet of Things” and the corresponding chips for devices compatible with this standard.
