Phonebloks - modular smartphone

The guys from Phonebloks see several problems in modern smartphones. The main thing is that they break down or become obsolete and have to be thrown away, as a result of which they pollute the environment. Two other problems are directly related to this - in the event of a breakdown, they are difficult to repair, and upgrading is almost impossible. Of course, the authors of Phonebloks have come up with an effective solution for these difficulties.

The idea is to develop a fully modular smartphone, so that each component - screen, processor, battery, memory, camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth - is a separate unit that would be inserted into the motherboard. This design allows you to quickly repair the device, since a broken component can be easily pulled out and simply replaced, and not discarded the entire device. In addition, this scheme involves hundreds of possibilities for customization or improvement, allowing, in fact, to simply create for everyone the smartphone it needs.

The idea is good, but it requires a lot of support. First of all, from manufacturers who need to switch to the production of such separate units, rather than entire smartphones. It is clear that they are unlikely to give up their current business model, and therefore the Phonebloks team asks everyone who likes the idea of social support.

The Thunderclap website has a page where you can show approval to such a smartphone (no, this is not crowdfunding, the authors are not asking for money yet - they just offer an idea). Already, with the requested 10,000 people, about 25,000 participants “signed up” to the project. More than a month is left before the end of the campaign, so it can be assumed that he will pick up several million votes of support.
