IFA 2013: PocketBook CoverReader

image
In June, I saw and showed you a Chinese case with E Ink-screen on Computerex, and today at IFA 2013 in Berlin I suddenly found a similar lotion from a relatively native PocketBook. Photos, details and video hid on cat.

So far this is a prototype, but at first glance it is quite working. Sharpened under the Samsung Galaxy S4 and is a book cover. Unlike similar cases, it communicates with a smartphone not via Bluetooth, but directly via microUSB. In fact, one half of the cover of the book replaces the back cover and slightly grabs the bottom of the case, slightly extending it.

There is no battery in the case, it is powered directly from the smartphone. It works quickly (seen on video). So far, there is only one demonstration application - a reader. Then they promise to make another proprietary program that will display SMS and other notifications on a paper screen. Well and, apparently, will open access for third-party developers.

Now they are completing a model for SGS 4, it will be released in the fall at a price of 70 euros, immediately released in Europe, Russia and Ukraine. At the beginning of next year, they will make a case for the iPhone, although they admit that they have not yet decided how to provide it with power - the iPhone does not give energy to the Lightning port.

I will be on the show to the end and a little longer. Ready to go to the Pocketbook booth once more, if you need anything else to find out

UPD: Yes, e-ink-really looks inside, but the cover can be turned out by 360 degrees. It is assumed that the smartphone will lay its screen down, and paper - up, and you will see all the notifications.
In the reader, you can flip through the pages with a volume rocker
