Year in the Windows Store. A brief summary and week of generosity from the developers of Metro Commander
This is a “guest” post from developers of utilities that are very popular in the Windows Store. I have known them for a long time, first by correspondence - they were participants of the Application Excelence Labs program and were among the first to go to the Windows application store, then in person, at one of the first Windows Camp, the developer responded from the audience when I spoke about Metro Commander.

It has been exactly one year since we, a small development team, started working for ourselves.
In honor of this event, we announce a week of generosity and distribute our applications absolutely free. (In fact, we want to check how such actions affect the position of apps in the Windows Store. Let us write about the results.)

How it all began?
As is often the case, we are tired of the status of an employee. I wanted to implement my projects and ideas, of which there have always been enough, and to try myself in new roles. The desire to drastically change the situation is getting stronger. In the end, the stars came together :). One day we changed our luxurious office to a dilapidated (in a state of repair) apartment and began work on our own projects. It was decided to start with the creation of small utilities that can be implemented in a short time.
What have we come to this moment?
Now the Windows Store has four of our programs. These are Metro Commander , Files & Folders , 8 Zip and Torrex . We started with utilities, because this is a topic that is close to us. After the very first launches of Windows 8 on the tablet, the need for these applications became completely clear. As it turned out, we were not mistaken and many users of Windows 8 are happy to use our applications.
