IBM does not want to open OS / 2

After publishing an online petition for opening source codes for the OS / 2 operating system, IBM sent an official response (it came by FedEx mail). A vice president of the IBM Enterprise Platform Software division said that IBM’s position has not changed. The company still does not plan to start any open source projects related to OS / 2, for reasons of "technical, legal and commercial nature." At the same time, IBM is also not going to develop this operating system and make any updates, and the product support period officially ended in December 2006.

In other words, IBM is not at all interested in the development of OS / 2 and considers an upgrade to be the best solution for existing users, offering them all possible assistance in this matter.

A similar petition from the OS / 2 user community in 2005 collected more than 11,000 signatures and received almost the same answer .
