Release Asterisk 12 will be released in 2013

Information from the developer's site:
In standard release, the goal of developing this version of Asterisk is architectural improvements as well as major new features. Such as:

• New expandable and productive SIP channel driver built on the SIP stack - pjsip.
• A new internal message bus that transmits data on the status of channels, bridges, end devices and other objects throughout Asterisk.
• Strongly updated version of AMI, with improved channel semantics and sequence of event information.
• The new ARI interface allows external applications to manage channels, bridges and other telephony objects directly.
