IE 7 and png with gamma correction

Yesterday I was surprised to find that ie 7 (and earlier versions) does not correctly display png files with additional information about gamma correction (chunk gAMA). Unlike other browsers, the colors in ie look darker. You can check it on the Browser Gamma Correction Test Page at libpng.org.
The chunk gAMA parameter was added by the developers of the png format due to the fact that the same colors in Windows and Mac OS are displayed differently. And all because of the different values of the gamma parameter in Windows (2.2) and Mac OS (1.8).

To solve this problem is quite simple, you need to remove the gAMA chunk from the png file. You can do this with various utilities, for example tweakpng . In other browsers such problems are not observed.
