The European Commission will support open source

The European Commission is going to launch a major Internet project, the Open Sourse Observatory and Repository (OSOR), by the end of the year. It will be aimed at introducing and adapting open source software in organizations and the public sector, CyberSecurity.ru reports. The portal, focused on business and public administration, will contain many applications and source codes.

OSOR, as stated in the official press release, will significantly save various government agencies and companies on software purchases. In addition, the use of open source will improve interprogramming and interconnection. It is assumed that the project OSOR will become part of the common portal of the European Commission.
