NASA's Asteroid Mission: Detailed Agency Video

The last few years at NASA have been paying close attention to asteroids, studying them and promoting the idea of working with asteroids. However, not many people imagine what kind of mission this will be and how it might look. In order to help imagine all this, NASA released a detailed video simulating Bruce Willis’s future astronauts on these space objects. The video, by the way, although it does not contain shots of exploding helicopters / planets, is still performed quite professionally.

In this case, it is not the idea of mining minerals on asteroids, but the idea of diverting potential life-destroying people on Earth from a dangerous orbit. So far, scientists have not discovered asteroids that are very dangerous for the Earth, but this does not mean that they do not exist. And in the event of an “asteroid threat”, it will be planned to send both human astronauts and robots in order to divert the asteroid to a safe orbit.

Earlier this year, the agency presented the technical aspects of such a mission, but now all this is visualized, and very detailed. The video contains all stages, from the launch of the Orion spacecraft, to the first steps of astronauts on an asteroid.
