Interesting times have come: almost all devices are equipped with a Wi-Fi module, the Internet is not everywhere, and smartphones and tablets are increasingly being released without support for memory cards. On the long journey, I would like to watch my favorite series, but I only have enough memory in the device for only a few episodes, and the available Internet is either too expensive or very slow.
However, it is possible to increase the amount of memory in a mobile device, and without wires and heavy carriers. One such solution is SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive.

')
The device is a small square box:
Dimensions: 65 x 65 x 13.5 mm
Weighs 79 grams.
As the name implies, this is a wireless media drive. The built-in flash memory is 32/64 GB, the connection is provided by Wi-Fi b / g / n and USB 2.0, and SanDisk is powered from its own battery.
If the internal memory seems small to you, you don’t need to despair - you can also use a flash card in Media Drive, and a rather large volume - up to 192 GB.

The main purpose of Connect Wireless Media Drive is streaming photos, videos and music.
The device copes well with its task: SanDisk can connect up to 8 devices at once, and HD streaming works simultaneously for 5. The stated battery life time is 8 hours when viewing HD video, but if only one Phone 5 is connected, there will be more than a battery for 10 hours, with two smartphones - already slightly less, but also in this framework.
Management takes place through mobile applications for
Android ,
iOS or
Kindle .
The content of the device is automatically divided into 4 categories:
- a photo
- video
- music
- files
No matter where a file is copied, it will always be available in the appropriate category. The same situation and when connecting a flash card - the necessary category will be ready in a few seconds.

Of course, through the application, you can configure all the parameters, including Wi-Fi, by making the access point open or, conversely, by closing it from other devices.
It is important to note that the file format must be supported by the receiving streaming device by default. Of course, you can save the file on your smartphone or tablet locally and use third-party video players, but this is not always reasonable. Therefore it is worth thinking about it in advance.
Unfortunately, during charging SanDisk via USB streaming will not work, since the device automatically switches to the external drive mode. Anyway, USB 2.0 is a controversial decision for this type of device. Obviously, the choice fell on him solely because of its cheapness. The data transfer rate is very slow, about 4 mb / s for writing and 14 mb / s for reading, so it’s better to prepare the necessary content in advance. However, if there is a socket nearby, the power adapter supplied in the kit excludes this defect.

A perfect example of using SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive is a journey. Before you go on a trip to SanDisk, you can throw a few seasons of your favorite series, movies and music and do not worry about how to entertain yourself on the road.
Photographers will also appreciate the device: using SanDisk it is very convenient to free a camera's memory card for further use, and later it is convenient to edit pictures from a computer or laptop.
Price SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive is $ 79.99 for the version with 32 GB of memory and $ 99.99 for the version with 64 GB.
As a result, we get an excellent low-cost device, greatly simplifying and improving our lives.
