Where to find Open Source Music?

You can laugh at Open Source , you can ignore it, you can live it. Open Source software is a ubiquitous phenomenon and everyone has the right to relate to this as you please.

What is open source music ? Why not just music? And where to find it? ..


By analogy with software, Open Source music is music for which gratuitous copying, distribution, demonstration, modification and development of own works on the basis of this work is allowed, provided that the authorship of the original is mentioned.

The most vivid example of licensing such music is Creative Commons , one of its forms has already been described by alizar in its recent topic .
In a nutshell, according to Creative Commons, the author voluntarily transfers part of his rights to the public. How it works is best seen in the comic book on the site of the Russian localization of licenses Creative Commons .

Music protected by such a license can be used not only for educational films. If you are a musician, you can perfectly remix, cover versions of original compositions. You can use it as podcasting music. You do not need to pay anyone for this, but only if you yourself follow the original license.
