It is known that spammers use an uncomplicated technique to entangle spam filters - they add a quote or phrase from a literary work to the advertising text. Animators Greg and Miles MacLeod decided to perpetuate these phrases in a comic book called Spamland .
The main character of the animated series is a character resembling a chicken with hands. In the first series, this amusing creature utters a phrase from the book "The Steel Rat" by Harry Harrison: "The door was closed and sealed," for something loved by spammers. The monologue continues with a quote from a newsletter advertising Viagra .
