MakerBot is well known in the 3D printing market. Its printer Replicator became popular very quickly, due to not very high prices and relatively easy operation. In addition, the company recently announced its intention to launch a 3D scanner with which it would be possible to get a model of a small real object, and send the same model to a 3D printer to create a copy (not as high-quality as the original maybe, but nonetheless). And now this scanner is ready, and will be presented next week.
The scanner was named Digitizer, it is depicted in the preview photo. As mentioned above, Digitizer allows you to scan a three-dimensional object, get a computer model (CAD), and, if necessary, send the file to "print". So far, the model of high resolution and speech is not. But what comes out of it deserves the praise of the developers. The following shows the original object, its model, and a copy of the object printed on the printer. ')
It is worth noting that the scanner software allows you to correct image errors using digital "magic".
All this is the results of the work of the MakerBot team, and these results, as we see, are not bad. By the way, the model can be printed at different scales. As an example, the earrings “printed” on a 3D printer are shown, and a Siamese cat figurine served as a model for them.
Unfortunately, the price of the device is still unknown, most likely it will be announced next week, simultaneously with the appearance of the scanner on sale.
By the way, here is a video of the prototype of the device shown at the March MakerBot conference:
