For a couple of years I used the i-gotU GT-200 GPS logger (I wrote a review here -
habrahabr.ru/post/121266 ). He was then bought in a big hurry and, although he served me faithfully, always wanted something more. After a recent
review of two loggers , I finally had the desire to replace it to the extent that a purchase is made.
What ideally wanted from the logger:
- At least two days of work from one charge. It is possible more.
- Convenient control buttons. For one large button the size of the entire body - a bad decision.
- Memory card or a large amount of internal memory.
- Work from replaceable batteries (AA or AAA) or charging through standard microUSB.
- Getting gpx files on output.
- Small sizes.
- Screen with information about time, speed, and in general all sorts of useful things.
- Voice notes.
After reading the review and comments to it, following the links I stopped at
i-gotU GT-820 Pro.

At least two days of work from one charge. It is possible more.
On Monday morning I turned it on and put it in my pocket - on Friday morning there were two more battery divisions out of three. The logger has a built-in motion sensor, which works as a pedometer and turns on sleep mode when the device does not move for a long time.
Convenient control buttons. For one large button the size of the entire body - a bad decision.
Three buttons on the sides - on / confirm, up / set POI and down / on the backlight. Conveniently enough.

Memory card or a large amount of internal memory.
No memory card. But the built-in - 8 megabytes, should be enough for 200 thousand records. I am quite satisfied with the default interval between points of three seconds, so this memory is for a week of continuous work. I'm not sure that the battery will last as much.
Work from replaceable batteries (AA or AAA) or charging through standard microUSB.
Non-replaceable battery. In general, all the loggers on AA or AAA are quite large, and the battery usually sits down unexpectedly, without an indication — that is why I do not suffer much from the built-in battery. Charging via microUSB available, through it is connected to a computer to reset tracks.
Getting gpx files on output.
It is no different from the old logger - the
A-Trip program for downloading a track and exporting it to gpx.

Small sizes.
The size (65 x 42 x 17.3 mm) is slightly larger than the old logger, but not much, it easily climbs into the same pockets. Especially considering the fact that the old logger had a modding body from roulette. :)

Screen with information about time, speed, and in general all sorts of useful things.
The screen is available, as many as 13 modes of operation. Switching side buttons.
Six custom modes in which you can switch the display of information in the fields. For example, instead of speed on the first screen, you can include calories.

Compass. GPS or magnetic. It did not work for me - apparently I am drawing a bad eight. :)

Height chart:

Normal LCD, the sun is perfectly visible. In the dark, you can turn on the backlight.
Voice notes.
This is not. But the rest of the advantages outweighed this disadvantage.
Bonuses
Additional functionality that is available, but for me is not very important:
- IPX7 water resistant - can stay at a depth of one meter for half an hour. But buttons to press at this time is not recommended.
- Digital compass (Magnetic Field Sensor: YAMAHA YAS529) - and could not configure. It is necessary to draw a pair of eights in the air, tried for several minutes, nothing happened. :)
- Barometric altimeter (Pressure Sensor: BOSCH BMP180) - it seems to work, but did not seriously look.
- The possibility of using as a bike computer, pulse monitor - these are optional additions, not included in my kit.
Impressions of use.
Good ones. Holds the battery for a long time, the display is informative, the control is convenient.
The track begins to write somewhere in five minutes after leaving the premises. I'm not deadly, but generally not very carefully, especially considering that a dozen satellites can be seen in a minute.
Information counters (pedometer, distance, etc.) resets at midnight. Tracks do not reset.
Time takes from the satellite, under the desired time zone is adjusted by hands with a step of 15 or 20 minutes.
Under Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8 x64 drivers got up without any problems.
When I got out of the box, there were two tracks in Shenzhen's memory. Whether with the tests, or just the Chinese were playing. :)
The ideal, of course, did not come out, but it turned out quite close. I am pleased with the acquisition.
