Today, a joint statement about the imminent release of a new smartphone with Firefox OS was made by Mozilla and ZTE. The announcement stated that the ZTE Open smartphone "soon" will be available. Unfortunately, it is impossible to clarify the exact release date of the phone, the company did not inform her. But it is known that the device will be sold already unlocked, without being tied to operators. In addition, buyers will be able to purchase only a phone with an orange color; there are no other alternatives yet.
The price, as mentioned in the title, will be only 80 US dollars, both for American buyers, and for Europeans (in any case, for the British, the price will be all the same 80 dollars). The functionality of the device will be standard, and you should not expect something fundamentally new. Messages, e-mail, calls, the ability to install new applications - that's all.

ZTE Open is controlled by a Qualcomm MSM7225A processor (1 GHz). The device also includes 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB of internal memory, a 3.5-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and a 1200 mAh rechargeable battery.
According to the developers, ZTE Open is designed for those users who purchase a smartphone for the first time. Now companies are working on a marketing strategy, which, ideally, will convince a sufficiently large number of buyers that they need a smartphone. Of course, the availability of the phone on eBay opens the way for the device in countries where the ZTE Open will not be officially shipped.
By the way, MegaFon and VimpelCom will be engaged in the delivery of ZTE phones in Russia. An official agreement has been concluded with these companies.
