US intelligence agencies are taking steps to prevent leaks of classified information after the scandal with Edward Snowden.

The director of the United States National Security Agency (NSA), General Keith Alexander, said that as part of the fight against leakage of classified information, the agency intends to reduce by 90% the number of system administrators, one of whom, in particular, was Edward Snowden, who fled to Russia.

According to Alexander, about a thousand system administrators are currently working at the NSA. Speaking to interdepartmental colleagues in New York in the presence of the heads of the FBI and the CIA, the general noted that most of these employees can be replaced with the latest technology.

He also confirmed that a rule is being introduced in the NSA, according to which system administrators, when admitting to secret information, will be required to work in the presence of a colleague.
